Name: Steven Imparl Website: Law Office of Steven D. Imparl Referred by: Just Surfed On In From: Chicago, Illinois USA Time: 2000-08-18 18:03:20 Comments: Heavenly Father, You have created the universe and have created men and women in Your image and likeness. When we selfishlessly disobeyed Your commandments--loving restrictions presented for our own good and happiness--You did not condemn us to an eternity without You. Instead, You set in motion events that led to Your sending Your one and only Son, Jesus Christ, as a sacrifice for our sins, to redeem us. Father, I lift up to You in prayer the men on the _Kursk_ submarine, now trapped at the bottom of the Barents Sea. In Your mercy and compassion, please bless and save these men. Remind them that Jesus is with us always, even until the end of time. Send Your Holy Spirit to console them and encourage them and help them to be mindful of Your magnificent presence, even in the dark depths of the Arctic waters. Please also bless and save the brave men who are desperately trying to save the men in the _Kursk_. Comfort and strengthen them as they do their dangerous work in terrifying conditions of cold, gale-force winds, high waves, muddy water, sand, and darkness. Please bless and save the families, friends, and loved ones of all these men with Your loving consolation and peace. While it is my ardent desire that the men on board the _Kursk_ be rescued, help me to have faith in You as our loving God and Father. Help me to say with faith and sincerity, "Thy will be done." You alone see the "big picture" of human life and suffering. I pray that You will be glorified, regardless of the ultimate outcome of this terrible accident. Finally, Father, please help all of us to remember that even the most frightening and desolate places, like the bottom of the cold Barents Sea, can never separate us from the incredible love You feel for us--the love that You have that is so strong that You sent Your only Son that whoever might believe in him would not die, but would have eternal life. (cf. John 3:16) May we all be comforted by Your Word, in which you tell us that "neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 8:38-39 (NIV). I ask all of this in the name of Jesus Christ, Our Lord and Savior. Amen. Steve Imparl |

But if this is not to be, then I accept that they were used by God, not in vain, but in a sacrifice to teach all mankind on earth that we must put aside our differences in political beliefs and pride, and must learn to trust and accept each other with open arms. I believe that if Russia had put aside pride and accepted the offerings of help from all the nations who volunteered it, the outcome may have been better then I now fear. May God have mercy upon those whose lives are lossed, and may he have mercy on us who remain to learn to live as but one worldly family of mankind. |

Name: Al Adams RMCS(SS) USN Retired Website: Referred by: htmlGEAR From: Tennessee, USA Time: 2000-08-18 17:20:49 Comments: I served 23 years in the US Navy, 10 in the submarine force. My prayers are with the men aboard the Kursk and their families. I feel so hopeless and wish there was something that I could do to help my Russian brothers that are only doing service for their country. While at times we served on different sides of ideaology we did what we believed in and did it to the best of our ability. All that serve, or have served in submarines are brothers and when one dies we all mourn for them knowing full well that it could have been us lying there defenseless. My prayers, and the prayers of all my friends, family and loved ones are for those brave men and their families. May the One True God of all be with you at this time of your greatest need. With love, respect and a heavy heart, Al Adams |

However, in times of need I say a few words for those who are suffering, as I to am suffering from attempting to understand the pain and agony these sailors and family members must be going through. To the crew, family and loved ones of the Kursk and the rescuers who risk their own lives.....May God Bless you all and comfort your pain no matter what the final outcome is. We all pray for a happy ending as evidenced by the thoughts, prayers, and messages from people around the world. However, we must face reality and say the outlook is grim for the fate of the sailors. If there is any good that has come from this catastrophy, It is knowing that there are still compassionate, kind, and decent people out there offering to help, from every nation, even if their only contribution is just to say a prayer and say "We care". |

May He preserve them, if He will, or comfort them swiftly home to Himself. May He guide and guard those who bravely labor to save their comrades at the peril of their own lives. And, perhaps most of all, may He not forsake the families and loved ones who wait and watch and worry. May they know something of His love and eternal purposes. May they know that so many are praying with them and for them with tears of yearning and compassion. |

That God is near to them, in his own special way. So God in all Your mercy, keep near Thyself the soul, Of every Submariner, still on his final patrol. Lord, this departed shipmate with dolphins on his chest is part of an outfit known as the best. Make him welcome and take him by the hand. You'll find without a doubt he was the best in all the land. So, heavenly Father add his name to the roll of our departed shipmates still on patrol. Let them know that we who survive will always keep their memories alive. |

But, I think some of them are still alive. Trapped air can last a while but if some of the men from the compartments which were flooded are in the last four compartments then less air will be available to distribute among the men. Whatever the case is the commander and chief (Putin) is to blame for not asking for help sooner. 118 men is a major loss of life. This is a tragedy that could have been prevented with quicker action!!! |
