Comments: Sailors, from whatever country, are a unique breed. Most times, they come home with their ship. Sometimes, for whatever reason, they do not. They died in the service of their country, doing what they are trained to do....go in harm's way each and every time they un-tie from the dock and set sail. May God have mercy on their souls and hold them close to His bosom forever and ever.....Amen

Comments: To the family and friends of the love ones lost in this tragic accident my deepest sympathy...To thoes in POWER...shame on you ! It is sad, to not ask for help sooner, because SECRETS are more valuable than the lives of the men that serve your country and cause. I am so weary of wars and secrets....can we not learn to live in peace and be happy for what we have ?

Comments: Our hearts go out to the families of the Sailors and Officers aboard the Kursk... Each and every time we send our husbands, boyfriends, brothers, or friends out to sea, we feel a pain so deep and so immense... knowing deep down, that it may be the last time we ever look into their eyes, hold their hands, kiss their lips, wrap our arms around them... but we each try our best to hold back our tears to let them see that we do not worry about them, that we are strong... but we are not. Only together, are we strong. All we have in this world is eachother... May the sailors on eternal patrol Rest In Peace in calm waters...

Comments: I spent 4 years on the USS Blueback SS-581 and I would like to send my heart felt prayers to the families that lost loved ones on the "KURSK". In the submarine service we say,"what happens on the boat, stays on the boat", one of the reasons we feel that way is because most people could not understand why we are the way we are. The real reason is because we know in a jam, the only people we could count on is EACH OTHER !! When the rest of us get to heaven, I know that we will find the crew members of the "kursk" together! Comments: As an American I am reminded through my gracious, wonderful Russian wife, of how enigmatic and futile the distance is between our countries and defying this, how in love she and I are with each other. Russia is proud and is suffering, and as Americans looking for peace in the world, we must adjust our good intentions to a complex country sometimes beyond our comprehension. We know from our marriage how the barriers built on history can so readily be dissolved, perhaps this tragedy will soften the political habits of both sides. My wife and I extend our personal prayers to the stricken families of these young men.

As I heard on the news what I knew I would hear I was sickened. No other military service shares the brotherhood that submarine sailors share. I have lost brothers that I have never known, but think if WE (Sub Sailors) had anything to do with world politics........the world would probably not be starving. Please believe this...the submarines in the Russian Navy are a real threat. Their inability to provide adequate maintenance & training may, quite frankly be our END. MY PRAYERS ARE WITH MY BROTHERS ON KURSK & MAY GOD BLESS THEIR FAMILIES

Comments: I think that the russians hesitated to call in outside help because of the fact the didn't want anyone of NATO to have a look inside the Sub, because they were afraid that by allowing that, they would see "what they call military secrets" like for example the new SS-N-19 Shipwreck missiles, from which the Kursk has 24 aboard. Each missile is armed with 750 kg of high explosives (2 times the bomb of Hiroshima). The sad thing is that men were sacrified to keep it hidden. Because if the had asked help to Great Britain earlier, some of the crew could may be have been saved.

The unspoken fear of all of those who have been there came true for these men and my heart goes out to each of them and their families. I have been out of the Navy since 1990 and I now have a family that I couldn't imagine spending time away from. I thank the Lord that for His Grace and Divine Protection that many others have not had to leave for that ultimate departure. The Lord has His specific reason for this tragity. My Prayers are to the loved ones that will always be waiting for that Glorious Homecoming of the crew ... only weep and ask why was thier loved one taken. My God's wonderous Grace see them through this, and know that this crew died as heros doing the job they were called to do and gave the ultimate.

Comments: The loss of 118 brave men was unnecessary and avoidable if the powers that be hadn't wasted so much valuable time, and had allowed the British rescue team, and other nations that offered help,to do so from the very start. It makes one wonder if there was something to hide? I pray for such a sad loss of life, for the 118 men that had so much life left to live, may they rest in peace, and may God be with their loved ones at this time and give them strength to carry on.

To all the others who have gone to sea before and returned knowing that this could always be their fate, as well as to all the family and friends who waited for their return and rejoiced at their sight and their phone calls, and to all those who have known the loss of having a serviceman never return, may all our hearts mourn these men together. Let this memorial page show all that although we all have diferent loyalties to countries that often don't see eye to eye we will always respect the choice to serve and we mourn as one service family, together, without flags or countries to divide us. May the families of these men take some comfort that these condolences know no borders, as all servicemen and their families grieve with you together. Comments: More completely unneccessary victims of an army. Pride causes countries to keep armys bigger than they really can support & the same thing could happen to any other of the cold war competetors. This accident still results from cold war and these people most likely won´t be the last victims of this catastrophy. As soon as the reactor rusts all the way through we´ve got it in the food chain of one of the richest fishing grounds in the world. This will kill more people via radioactivity related cancer. It´ll be exported. In our shrinking globallized world it´s really pathetic to keep thinking in national terms and "death in honor". There is no such thing!! I grief for the people and their families, NOT the soldiers

Comments: Comrads, Friends, Brothers, To those on eternal patrol there are no enemies, or politics, rights or wrongs. All who have ever served in submarines know the dangers you have faced. We are all brothers and grieve your loss. We ask your forgiveness for failing to come to your rescue. Know that each of you served bravely and died for what you believe in. We pray that you did not suffer long, and that in your fear you felt some comfort. Our hope is that THE ONE, creator of all was with you in the time of your greatest need. Hopefully the horror that you endured can now turn to eternal joy as you look down from above on your loved ones. Be with your families and your friends from around the world and give us courage to face our pain, caused by the loss of those we love. May we now serve you by remembering your families and not forgetting their sacrifices. Let us not have to grieve the loss of any more brave men who go down to the sea in submarines. Let your loss serve as a lesson to the world that when it comes to human life we all are related. I salute you, Mitakuye Oyasin. (We are all related) Al Adams Senior Chief Radioman, Submarines, US Navy Retired

Comments: As a wife of a submariner who is currently deployed, my heart and soul go out to the families of each and every sailor whose life was taken by the sea. Not a day goes by when I don't think about all the dangers that are out there for my husband. After hearing about a Russian submarine sunken to the bottom of the sea, you see life for what it really is....short. And that you need to live each and every day to the fullest. And love those around you as you never have before. God bless the families and friends of the sailors lost at sea.
